The Lambda Theta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is pleased to announce its 29th Anniversary of The Michelle Wilson Walk-A-Thon on Saturday, April 16th, 2022. Our theme for this year’s Walk-A-Thon is “Knowledge is Power!" which signifies that with our walk, in honor of Michelle Wilson, we must continue our supportive and combative efforts by knowing the signs of Lupus and continuing to raise Lupus awareness.

This walk is a tribute to our sorority sister and Alumna of the University of Arkansas, Michelle Wilson, who died in 1992 of Systemic Lupus. Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease that causes inflammation of various parts of the body, especially the skin, joints, blood, and kidneys. This disease affects one out of every 185 Americans; with women being affected 10 times more frequently than men.

The Lambda Theta Chapter is dedicated to breaking down the informational barriers by promoting public awareness of Lupus. Along with promoting Lupus awareness, the purpose of our walk is to support the efforts of the Lupus Foundation and to provide scholarships in the name of Michelle Wilson. Last year, with your help, we were able to endow the $25,000 Michelle Wilson Scholarship. This endowment will ensure that Michelle's legacy will live on forever at The University of Arkansas.

On behalf of the Lambda Theta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Sorority, Inc., we thank you for your time and serious consideration in donating to the Lupus Foundation and supporting Lambda Theta's award winning programming. Giving together, we can make miracles happen in the lives of others!
